Indian Hills Community College Reconstruction

Ottumwa, Iowa – Summer 2023 – With construction of the US Highway 63 bypass taking place in the mid-2000’s, Indian Hills Community College in Ottumwa elected to make their entrance off of Alta Vista Avenue the primary gateway onto campus.   A maintenance project on the southern portion of Indian Hills Drive took place in 2007 with the intent of getting a few more years out of the existing pavement, but by 2022 it was evident that this pavement was reaching the end of its serviceable life.  Garden & Associates has enjoyed a multi-decade relationship with the College, and was honored to work with them once again to reconstruct 1,100 feet of this roadway along with adjoining sidewalk and other amenities.  The project was substantially funded through the Iowa Department of Transportation State Park and Institutional Roads Program.  Completion of this project has provided a campus entry that all involved can be proud of.
