Garden & Associates Opens Office in Creston

Garden & Associates celebrates the opening of their new office in Creston at an Open House on September 11, 2007.  The Creston office, located in the professional building at 500 E. Taylor Street, will house engineering staff that will serve the southwestern portion of Iowa.  Garden & Associates will share office space with Mid-State Surveying, Greg Shawler and Jimmy Norman, who will continue to provide surveying services for the region.

“Now is the right time for us to open an office in Creston”, says Bob Nielsen company president, “we believe Creston and the surrounding communities will quickly come to appreciate having local, experienced, and innovative engineering support to help develop and maintain infrastructure essential to perpetuating a high quality of life and a vibrant local economy.”  Mr. Nielsen continued, “Our focus has always been on providing valuable engineering services to the smaller communities in Iowa; we share their typical home town values and we work hard to help these communities prosper.”  

For nearly 60 years the engineers and staff at Garden & Associates have worked to improve drinking water, streets, and sewers within Iowa; if it is a city or utility improvement project, new development, or an expanding business within 120 miles of Oskaloosa, there is a good chance that Garden & Associates, Ltd. is involved. Garden & Associates has built a reputation in Iowa for providing creative and practical professional services, with capable and honest people.

Some projects recently completed or underway in the Creston area include design of the newly completed Creston Water Tower, planning for many projects with Southern Iowa Rural Water Association, planning and design of commercial and residential developments in Creston and Osceola.  Other projects include design of downtown sidewalk projects in several communities, and numerous water and wastewater system improvements.  Garden & Associates is also serving as city engineer for several communities; in that capacity they are helping to shape the future of those cities that want to fully utilize the technical abilities held by staff.

Heading up the office in Creston will be Vice President and Owner, Mark J. Fincel, P.E. along with Zach Gunsolley, E.I., L.S.I., a native of Diagonal, Iowa.  Zach, who for the past four years has been interning in the Oskaloosa office, is looking forward to helping people in his home town region of the state with their engineering needs.  Zach graduated from Iowa State University with a B.S. in Civil Engineering in 2003. 

Company President, Bob Nielsen, P.E., Vice President, Mark J. Fincel, P.E., and fellow owners, Jack Pope, P.E. and Brad Uitermarkt, P.E. are excited about leading Garden & Associates into its 60th year of business with this new opportunity to provide for the engineering needs of Southwest Iowa.
